Patient Support Groups
Connect With Other Patients and Family in the Austin, TX Community
At Austin Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, we work with many women who have experienced a breast cancer diagnosis. Through these experiences, we have learned how large of a role community resources can play in helping these women and their families get through such difficult times. Below, we’ve compiled some of the most valuable patient support groups and other community resources for breast cancer patients.
Breast Cancer Resource Center
The Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC) organizes free support groups throughout the greater Austin area, including focused support groups for women newly diagnosed, those who have been diagnosed under the age of 45, those who have been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, and Spanish language support groups. BCRC also offers one-on-one patient support from certified patient navigators, all of whom are breast cancer survivors.
American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society has programs and services to help people with cancer and their loved ones understand the disease, manage their lives through treatment and recovery, and find the emotional support they need. Best of all, the help is free.
Texas Oncology
Texas Oncology's free support groups are often led by current or former patients. Some are focused on specific types of cancer; others are open to both patients and family members.
Livestrong
Get personalized, one-on-one support in English or Spanish from a patient navigator and take part in special programming for all types of cancer survivors, including the organization's acclaimed LIVESTRONG at the YMCA exercise program.
