Microneedling Recovery and Aftercare

While you will be able to head home right after your treatment, you should expect to see some swelling and redness for the first day. It will likely be comparable to a sunburn, but since you won’t be able to apply makeup right away to cover it up, you might be more comfortable relaxing at home after your treatment. We will send you home with products specifically designed for use after a SkinPen treatment, which help promote healing.

Bruising can also occur in the treatment area but is typically mild and short-lived. Discomfort is rarely enough to keep you from any activities you would like to do, although we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise or heavy sweating for the first few days since they can irritate the skin. By the second day, you will be able to cover up residual redness with makeup, and by the third day, your side effects should be nearly gone. Sun protection will be imperative in the weeks following your treatment to ensure no further damage occurs while your skin heals.
