Achieve Vaginal Rejuvenation With Labiaplasty in Austin

Every woman deserves to feel confident and attractive in her own body. Unfortunately, many women are unhappy with the aesthetics of their private areas, feeling that their labia minora are too large or unattractive. For some women, large labia can also cause discomfort during daily activities and/or sexual intercourse. At Austin Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, our all-female team of expert surgeons understand and empathize with these issues. If you’d like to adjust the size and shape of your labia, you could be a good fit for a vaginal rejuvenation procedure called labiaplasty.

What Is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure performed to trim and reshape the labia minora. This procedure can be performed for cosmetic reasons or to reduce discomfort and irritation in the vaginal area.

For women uncomfortable with the size or appearance of their labia, labiaplasty may be appropriate. Some women find that their labia develop naturally to appear overly large or asymmetrical. Others may see a change happen over time, especially after childbirth.

Large labia can create discomfort during sex, making what should be a pleasurable experience into an unpleasant one. They can also chafe during other physical activities, such as running, swimming, or gymnastics. If the labia are large enough, they may be noticeable when you wear particular outfits, such as yoga pants or similarly tight clothing. They may also be exposed by certain swimsuits. Labiaplasty can eliminate these issues by reducing the size of the labia minora and adjusting their shape.

Benefits of Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is an effective vaginal rejuvenation procedure that can offer all of the following benefits:

  • Improved vaginal aesthetics
  • Improved comfort during day-to-day activities like running and exercising
  • Increased wardrobe options
  • Improved comfort during sexual intercourse
  • Improved self-confidence, especially during sexual situations
  • More proportionate and symmetrical labia minora
  • Reduced likelihood of urinary tract infections

What to Expect During Your Labiaplasty Procedure

Before your labiaplasty, your initial consultation will be an important part of the treatment process. Anyone who opts for a labiaplasty should feel totally confident in her decision, which is why we have a thorough, in-depth conversation to determine whether labiaplasty is the ideal solution and to explain what the surgery can and cannot do. One of our female plastic surgeons will answer questions about the procedure itself, expected results, and recovery time, all with a focus on compassion and discretion.

Your labiaplasty will be performed as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia. During the procedure, your surgeon will carefully trim away excess tissue to make the labia less noticeable and more symmetrical. Once your preferred adjustments have been completed, the vaginal area will be bandaged as necessary. You’ll need to remain at our surgical center for a couple of hours after the procedure for monitoring. After that, you can get a ride home with a friend or family member.

What Is the Recovery Like After Labiaplasty?

Most patients need to rest at home for about one week after undergoing labiaplasty. During this time, you’ll need to get plenty of sleep, stay hydrated, and avoid too much exertion. After the first week, you should be able to get back to work and gradually ease back into your normal routine. However, you’ll want to wait at least three or four weeks to participate in strenuous physical activity, and sexual intercourse should be avoided for at least six weeks.
